Vizcaya Museum & Gardens Wedding Photoshoot | Donia & Murad

The wedding photo gallery is available at the bottom of the article.

Donia and Murad returned to their wedding attire for a relaxed post-wedding shoot at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Without a ceremony timeline, waiting guests or reception entrance to think about, they could take their time exploring the gardens and concentrate entirely on creating portraits together.

I photographed the session and also created vertical reels showing the movement behind the finished images. Donia’s long veil, the garden pathways and the couple’s natural interactions worked especially well across both formats.

This post is about their portrait experience rather than planning a wedding at the venue. Couples looking for practical information about event spaces, costs and logistics can read my detailed guide to weddings at Vizcaya.

Watch Donia & Murad’s Post-Wedding Reels

Photographs allowed us to create carefully composed portraits, while the vertical reels captured Donia and Murad walking together, her veil moving through the gardens and the interactions that happened between each setup.

Couples interested in adding this type of short-form content to their gallery can explore my options for photography paired with vertical wedding reels.

Timeless Black-Tie Styling

Murad wore a classic black tuxedo with satin lapels, a crisp white shirt, black bow tie and pocket square. The clean black-and-white styling suited the formal architecture and contrasted beautifully with the surrounding greenery.

We began with individual portraits of Murad along a tree-lined garden path. The symmetry created a strong setting for full-length photographs before I moved closer to capture more relaxed expressions and details such as his bow tie and wedding band.

Donia wore a full wedding gown with a structured skirt, long lace sleeves and delicate embroidered details. Her long veil extended behind her as she walked, adding movement and shape to the wider compositions.

A jeweled tiara, softly styled waves and a bouquet of white flowers completed her look. The overall style felt formal and elegant while still allowing Donia’s personality to come through in the closer portraits.

Beginning the Post-Wedding Portrait Session

For the opening sequence, Donia approached Murad from behind along one of the garden paths. It gave the photographs a sense of anticipation and allowed us to capture his reaction as he turned to see her.

Although it had the visual feeling of a first look, this was part of their post-wedding portrait session rather than a wedding-day reveal. With no schedule pushing us forward, Donia and Murad could enjoy the moment before we continued through the gardens.

The sequence also translated naturally into video. Donia walking toward Murad, him turning around and the two of them laughing together created a short reel with genuine movement rather than a collection of static poses.

Portraits Around the Gardens and Main House

We used the formal gardens, mature trees, trimmed hedges and views of the Main House to give Donia and Murad’s gallery variety.

Some photographs were taken from farther away, placing the couple within the surrounding landscape. Others focused closely on their expressions and the details of their wedding attire. This combination of wide environmental images and intimate photographs is central to my approach to relaxed, story-led wedding portraits.

The shaded pathways gave us soft, even light for close portraits, while the open areas created brighter photographs with the architecture visible behind them.

Romantic Portraits Beneath the Veil

Donia’s long veil became an important part of the session. We used it to frame the couple, soften the background and add movement without making the portraits feel too heavily staged.

Some of the closest photographs were created beneath the veil, concentrating entirely on Donia and Murad’s expressions. These images added a more intimate feeling to the gallery and provided a contrast to the wider photographs showing the gardens.

We also created individual bridal portraits of Donia holding her bouquet with the veil trailing behind her. The full-length photographs showed the shape and lacework of her gown, while the close-ups highlighted her tiara, jewelry and makeup.

Stone Staircases and Garden Architecture

As we moved through the property, we used stone staircases, textured walls and open architectural structures as backgrounds. Their warmer tones contrasted with Donia’s white gown and Murad’s black tuxedo.

The staircases allowed the gown and veil to fall naturally across the steps. They also gave us a range of angles, from wide compositions showing the surroundings to closer images focused on the couple.

Donia and Murad walked, held hands and talked between the more formal portraits. These transitions produced natural smiles and movement, giving the gallery a relaxed side alongside its polished, editorial photographs.

Portraits Beside the Water

We finished with portraits near the water, using the stone bridge, palms and estate buildings to create another distinct part of the gallery.

The strong blue sky, bright sunlight and waterfront setting gave these final images a different look from the softer garden photographs. Donia’s dress stood out clearly against the stone and greenery, while Murad’s tuxedo kept the overall look classic.

Having a separate post-wedding shoot meant we could explore these locations without taking the couple away from their guests or squeezing the portraits into a short gap between other events.

Why Choose a Post-Wedding Shoot?

A post-wedding session gives couples another opportunity to wear their wedding outfits and create portraits without the pressure of the wedding-day schedule. It can be especially useful when the original timeline leaves limited time for couple photographs or when you want to use a separate location.

Donia and Murad’s shoot was entirely focused on them. We had time for individual portraits, romantic close-ups, wide garden compositions and vertical reels without needing to rush toward the next part of the day.
